Description

UDAYAGIRI is well known for the carved wooden cutlery such as forks, spoons and knives. The craft has been a hereditary occupation and the whole family was involved in the craft. The most commonly used material is the Nardi wood and the other woods used are Devadaru Vikki Chakka and Kaldi Chakka. The carving is done on the handle; holes are drilled according to the pattern of the design and files are usedfor finishing. The smaller spoons or the pallis are made out of Nardi and Vikki wood. Bigger spoons and forks are made out of harder wood
